The slip slip purl is a one-stitch decrease that leans to the left on the knit side of the work.
Procedure
Western Method
Traditional Method
- Slip the next two stitches individually onto the right needle as if to knit.
- Insert the left needle through the back loops of both slipped stitches from back to front.
- Purl the two slipped stitches together through the back loops.
Modified Method
The modified method for the slip slip purl twists the first stitch of the decrease, which in certain situations can cause it to lay flatter and be less stretched out.
- Slip the next stitch onto the right needle as if to purl.
- Slip the next stitch onto the right needle as if to knit.
