The purl through the back loop stitch is generally used to refer to the action that creates a twisted knit stitch in the Western method of knitting. Twisting a stitch varies by method due to the positioning of the leading and trailing legs of the stitches on the needles.

Procedure

Western Method

  1. Insert the right needle into the back loop of the stitch from back to front.
  2. Purl the stitch.
