About
Make one increases are created by picking up the strand of yarn that runs between two stitches on the row below and purling through it to twist it closed. They can be created to be leaning either to the left or right based on the direction the strand is picked up and twisted closed.
Procedure
Western Method
- Insert the left needle underneath the strand between the stitches on the left and right needles from back to front, placing the strand onto the left needle.
- With the yarn in front as for purling, insert the right needle from back to front through the front of the stitch as if to purl.
- Wrap the yarn over the right needle and between the needles and pull the new loop of yarn through the picked-up strand to purl the stitch.
