About

Make one increases are created by picking up the strand of yarn that runs between two stitches on the row below and knitting through it to twist it closed. They can be created to be leaning either to the left or right based on the direction the strand is picked up and twisted closed.

Procedure

Western Method

  1. Insert the left needle underneath the strand between the stitches on the left and right needles from front to back, placing the strand onto the left needle.
  2. With the yarn in back as for knitting, insert the right needle from front to back through the back of the stitch as if to knit through the back loop.
  3. Wrap the yarn between the needles and over the right needle and pull the new loop of yarn through the picked-up strand to knit the stitch.
